Also, people mad about the new level 40 thing. The Steam reviews are still totally skewed from a bad kickstarter and a bad launch. Grim Dawn is probably my overall favorite in the genre right now. I am a fan of the genre, going back to D2. I got stuck on some scenery, couldn't town portal, and had to quit to main menu. In 50-60 ish hours, I've only had one bug. I haven't really tried any other playstyle with it yet, but Wolcen nailed this one. I play a pistol/catalyst (ranger/caster hybrid) build with a summon to tank while I snipe and make exploding dodge-roll duplicates. Just enough treasure tucked away in corners, too.Ĭombat is fast and fluid. I got it on sale, and it's absolutely worth $10, IMO.Īside from the visuals (which are stunning for a top down ARPG, if your CPU/GPU can do it), I really like the combat feel and the area maps. You can also duplicate a favorite skill 2 times plus the original one, which allows you to slot them 3 times over per skill. There is a difference between the act 4 version of this fight which is scaled to you and your first Champion of Stormfall run of the boss, since endgame relies on successful mission runs to increase difficulty dynamically, with successes adding points to the difficulty and failures subtracting.Īscended forms are.not as strong as I wish and dismissable without their relevant upgrades later on, but they are invincible, and can be a great save from deadly AOE and dot effects. Endgame constitutes a endless recurring cycle of fighting against the main baddy's siege, prepping for it by doing projects or taking on a harder end boss for additional rewards. Weapons have restrictions on what spells they allow, but red items can bypass some of these limitations. Or some spells can have their damage types changed entirely, while stacking additional effects like additional vortexes, improved times, and so on, as well as tick rates and more. For example, a summoner can add more minions, reduce them for buffs, add damage, hp, speed, so on. There is a lot of customization that the game has for you, with every skill having dozens of little buffs and effects you can elect to change how a skill operates. But I have fun with the story and endgame. There are certainly issues, bugs and glitches.
